Health & Wellbeing

Berry St

At Swan View Primary School, we use the Berry Street Education Model as a whole‑school approach to support student wellbeing, engagement and learning. The Berry Street model is a research‑based framework that helps schools understand how trauma can impact children’s learning, behaviour and emotional regulation. Through this approach, staff focus on building strong relationships, creating predictable and supportive classrooms, and teaching students skills such as self‑regulation, resilience and problem‑solving. Our continued focus on trauma‑informed practice ensures that all students feel safe, supported and ready to learn, while promoting positive behaviour and inclusive learning environments across the school.

School Nurse

The school nurse visits the school regularly to carry out routine medical checks. Parents are notified if their child requires attention. In some cases teachers may refer students to the Nurse.

School Psychologist

A School Psychologist is appointed to the school each Monday/Thursday to assist children with social and emotional issues or behavioural problems. Referrals to the School Psychologist are made by the Principal in consultation with teachers and parents.

School Chaplain

We have our school Chaplain, Helga who is employed through YouthCare. Helga is an integral part of our school and provides support to students on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s.

Helping Minds

We have Helping Minds come into school and provide counselling to students who live in the Swan View suburb (Year 3 and above). If you are interested in this service, please see Tracey Armstrong (Deputy Principal)

OnPsych psychologist counselling

We have recently been able to access OnPsych counselling for students at our school. If you are interested in this service, please see Tracey Armstrong (Deputy Principal)
