From the Principal

Kaya Swan View Community,

Over the past few weeks, it has been truly heart-warming to reflect on how far we have come as a school this year. The growth and improvements across Swan View Primary School have been phenomenal, and it has been a privilege to witness the continued success of our students and staff.

Last week’s Year 6 Graduation was a particularly special occasion, providing a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements of a remarkable group of students as they conclude their primary school journey. Our Presentation Evening, while warm on the night, was filled with joy, pride and connection. It was lovely to see so many families in attendance, and we hope you enjoyed the refreshed format and the celebration of student achievement through our awards.

The final week of the school year was a perfect way to conclude what has truly been an outstanding year. Celebrations such as the Good Standing Foam Party and the P&C Colour Run brought excitement, laughter and a strong sense of community, highlighting the positive culture that continues to grow at Swan View Primary School.

I would like to sincerely thank the entire Swan View PS community for your ongoing support throughout the year. Your contributions, encouragement and partnership with our staff have played a vital role in the success of our students. Together, we have made 2025 a year to be proud of.

Below are just a few highlights that showcase what a fantastic year it has been for our school:

Growing and Thriving Together

This year has seen continued growth at Swan View Primary School. Enrolments have increased and we are excited to be expanding our school once again in 2026 with the addition of two new classes. This growth reflects the strong reputation of our school and the confidence families place in our staff and programs.

Celebrations and Events

Throughout the year, our school community has come together to celebrate a wide range of events. Presentation Evening was a highlight, showcasing student performances and celebrating academic success through our 2025 Book Awards.

Harmony Day, Chinese New Year Lion Dancing and other cultural celebrations provided rich learning experiences for students and reinforced the importance of inclusion and respect. NAIDOC Week was another significant event, allowing students to engage meaningfully with Aboriginal culture and history and honour our place on Whadjuk Noongar Country.

Sporting Achievements

Our students demonstrated outstanding school spirit and teamwork through a variety of sporting events. The Interschool Faction Carnival was a standout, with students showing determination, resilience and pride in representing Swan View Primary School. Participation in cricket and other sporting opportunities further strengthened teamwork and confidence.

Learning and Academic Highlights

Student learning remained at the heart of everything we do. Literacy initiatives continued to flourish, with the library playing a key role through Lego Club and the successful acquisition of new resources following a significant library grant. All of our staff participated in Shaping Minds professional learning to ensure consistency across our classrooms. Our Upper Primary started Word Origins (Spelling Program) and the results have been impressive. Next year, our EC staff are moving to UFLI which is a similar, explicit program for PP – 3 to teach students the fundamentals of spelling. We continued with our partnership with the North East Metro Language Development Centre and had a number of speech therapists in our classrooms upskilling our teachers and working with students.

Across classrooms, students engaged in hands-on and meaningful learning experiences, including STEM challenges, creative projects and rich curriculum opportunities that supported both academic growth and student engagement.

School Environment and Community

A major highlight this year was the opening of our new playground. This fantastic space was made possible through the hard work and dedication of our P&C and wider school community, and it has quickly become a valued part of our school.

We also proudly unveiled our updated school logo following extensive consultation. The refreshed design reflects who we are as a school today while continuing to honour our history and values.

Student Wellbeing and Development

Student wellbeing continued to be a key focus in 2025. Positive behaviour and attendance were recognised through Good Standing initiatives and attendance rewards, reinforcing the importance of engagement and responsibility.

Staff undertook professional learning in the Berry Street Education Model, strengthening our ability to support students’ social and emotional needs.

Student and Staff Achievements

We proudly celebrated students who completed Children’s University, recognising their commitment to independent learning beyond the classroom. Individual student achievements across academic, sporting and creative pursuits were also acknowledged throughout the year.

We also farewelled staff members who have made valuable contributions to our school community. We thank them sincerely for their dedication and wish them every success in their next chapters.

Our P&C and Community Partnerships

Our Parents and Citizens Association continued to play an integral role in supporting the school through fundraising, events and contributions to school improvements. We are incredibly grateful for their time, energy and commitment. This year with all of their fundraising they have raised over $14,000! WOW! Thank you to all of you who have supported their initiatives.

Strong partnerships with community organisations further enriched learning opportunities for our students and strengthened our connection to the local community for example with the Midvale Hub and Binar.

Looking Ahead

As we close out 2025, we do so with pride in all that has been achieved and gratitude for the strong partnerships that make our school such a special place. We look forward to 2026 with optimism and excitement and cannot wait to continue working together to support every student’s success.

A reminder, school will return on MONDAY, 2nd February 2026.

Thank you to our students, families, staff and community for a wonderful year. We wish all of you a safe and restful holiday break.
