Principal’s Message

Kaya Swan View Community,

It is impossible to believe we are nearly at the end of Term 3. Soon enough, it will be Christmas! We have had a jam packed few weeks.

School Council – Get Involved!

Our School Council plays a vital role in shaping the direction of Swan View Primary School. It brings together parents, staff, and community members to work in partnership, ensuring our school is the very best it can be. Some of the things they assist us with are ensuring we are spending our finances according to our strategic directions, helping us with uniform policies and also looking at our academic and wellbeing data.

We would love to see more families join us, and we are holding an Open Meeting on Thursday 6th November at 3.15pm. If you’re curious about what the School Council does or are interested in being part of it, this is the perfect opportunity to come along. Everyone is welcome!

Mural Survey – Have Your Say!

Exciting news! We are planning a brand-new mural for our Early Childhood block, and we’d love your help to decide which animals and plants should be featured.

Please take a moment to complete our short survey here: https://forms.office.com/r/RFEKaD2pfB

Mayor Tanya Richardson Visits SVPS

Last week, we were delighted to welcome Mayor Tanya Richardson to our school. She commented on how stunning our grounds look, how impressive our classrooms are, and she especially loved our front display cabinet showcasing historical artifacts.

Interschool Sports

A huge thank you to our P&C for covering the cost of buses, which meant families didn’t have to pay for travel. Our students thoroughly enjoyed their games, and we are proud to share that their behaviour throughout the day was exemplary.

Dance Concert

Our Dance Concert will be held on TUESDAY 23rd September at 1.50pm. Please remember that students must have paid for their classes to be able to participate. We look forward to seeing you there!

The Tunnel Tuckerbox

We have to let you know the very sad news that Kelly in our canteen is leaving us. Kelly has been an integral part of the Swan VIew PS team and we just love her. We would like to thank Kelly for making the best cheezies and for her warm smile every morning. She is moving to Mandurah and we wish her the very best. There will be a replacement which is great news for all of us who would be lost without the canteen!

Recess and Lunch – Healthier Choices

We’ve noticed an increasing amount of fast food (e.g. Chicken Treat, McDonald’s) and highly processed snacks (roll ups, chips, lollies, etc.) being brought to school. These foods make it difficult for students to sustain their energy and focus throughout the day. We recently had Dentistry students from UWA come in and chat to our classes about looking after their teeth, and part of their talk was about ensuring we limit sugary drinks and food.

To support families, we’ve included the Pick & Mix Healthy Lunchbox Poster below, which has lots of simple and affordable alternatives to help pack a healthier lunchbox.

Attendance Matters

We understand many students have been unwell recently. However, please remember:

  • If your child is absent for more than two days due to illness, we require a medical certificate.
  • A big thank you to families already using the Compass app to log absences. This helps us keep accurate records.
  • We still have a number of unexplained absences, so please ensure all absences are communicated to the school.

Consistent attendance is vital for learning and success — thank you for working with us to support your child’s education.

Moving in 2026?

We are busy getting our classes organised for next year so that we can ensure a smooth transition for our students. If your family is leaving in 2026, please let us know at the front office. It really helps us with our planning.

Around the School

Around The Rooms

Last week our Year 6 students had a fun day at Swan View SHS Orientation Day.

At first we did cooking and we made choc chip cookies (which we got to eat). Then after that we went and had a little run around and then we went into a program on a laptop and we took photos with different types of filters on with me and my partner from Clayton View. Then after that it was recess and we met up with our school and the other schools to have some fun. We then went to HASS and we did an activity with some costumes. We had lots of fun dressing in different costumes. By Lynkon B

Maths in EC4

The student picked a number to start from and complete a skip counting pattern. Extension students picked an ugly number that do not usually fall within their skip counting pattern, i.e. 19.  Students did a skip counting pattern forwards and backwards.

Students whisper ‘fraction fingers’ as they shake their hand twice and reveal any number of fingers on a single hand over a shadow template of 5 fingers. Students then figure out the matching ‘out of’ sentence, for example, “2 out of 5.” Students also recorded the fraction as numbers as well, for example, 3 out of 5, is 3/5 and wrote it down in word form, i.e., three fifths.

EC1

During our mat session, kindy green and yellow practised
their counting sequence, using a fun group activity where
each child took turns placing their arrival number in order to
make a number line.
We reinforced key counting principles by encouraging
children to say each number aloud in their position and then
we checked the total count at the end.

Parent Night
