End of Term 2 – What a Big Term!

It’s hard to believe we’re already at the end of Term 2! It’s been a jam-packed term filled with wonderful events including swimming lessons, interschool carnivals, and a lovely Mother’s Day celebration.

Reports and NAPLAN Results

Student reports will be going home next week. Our staff have worked incredibly hard to provide the highest quality education, and we’re proud of the progress and achievements we’ve seen. We’re also looking forward to sharing our NAPLAN results with you once they are released.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s report, please don’t hesitate to reach out to their teacher. As always, we believe it takes a village to raise a child, and we’re here to support every step of your child’s learning journey.

Term 3 Pupil Free Day Friday 25 July

A reminder that Friday 25 July (Week 1) is a Pupil Free Day for staff development. There will be no school for students on this day as our team continues their Berry Street professional learning.

School Review – Showcasing Our Progress

Next term, we’ll be working with the School Review team to reflect on our progress in Teaching Quality and Leadership. We’ve made significant gains and look forward to showcasing the incredible work happening across our school.

Thank You to Our P&C!

Our amazing P&C have generously donated approximately $1,000 from the Bendigo Bank Raffle to help cover the cost of buses for senior students attending Friday sport. This has provided a huge saving for families and is a great example of community support in action.

To help raise further funds, we’re holding a PJ Day on the last day of term—bring a gold coin donation, with all proceeds going directly to the P&C.

Exciting Grant Success

We’re thrilled to announce we’ve received several successful grants:

  • Bendigo Bank Mundaring is funding a mural for our Early Childhood building. We’ve enlisted the creative talents of Tay from Meraki Boho, known for her beautiful mural work across the Hills and Perth. Keep an eye out for a community survey to share your ideas for the design!
  • Through Healthway WA, we’ve also received funding for a new bike rack for Early Childhood, scooters for B Block, and a speaker for Run Club—all helping to keep our students active and engaged.

Celebrating Student Fitness

We’ve seen fantastic improvements in student fitness this year, which was reflected in our 3rd place finish at the Interschool Cross Country—our best result in years! A huge well done to all involved. Don’t forget to keep the momentum going by attending Run Club every Monday and Friday morning.

Our Refreshed Front Office

We hope you’re enjoying our newly refurbished administration area! It’s modern, fresh, and professional—just one part of our ongoing commitment to creating a welcoming and inspiring school environment.

We are also saying goodbye to Mrs Nakia Thomas, who is heading off on maternity leave to welcome her second baby. We wish her and her growing family all the happiness in the world! Mrs Tarryn Murray will be taking over her teaching days from the start of Term 3.

Interschool Sports

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to our Interschool Cross Country Team who came 3rd overall. This is the best result we have had in YEARS! Our students showed grit, determination and positive sportsmanship. We are so proud of them all.

ROAR Inc

Yesterday concluded the very first ROAR Inc program at our school.

our students built resilience (and quads with all those squats) and learnt that they can do hard things.

Resilience is something we develop here at SVPS and this was all about grit. We would like to sincerely thank the ROAR team and Community Bank Mundaring who made the program happen.

Around the Rooms

Students were playing ‘Walk the Plank.’ The students played the game in pairs, where they either made it safely onto a boat (20) or walk the plank to doom (0). Snake group were playing the same game but numbers from -50 to 50.

Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer

Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer

There is an upcoming theatre performance at MJAC (Midland Junction Arts Centre)

We’ll be presenting  Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer by The Last Great Hunt on 9 July.  Both performances are a valuable opportunity for students to experience productions from two leading WA theatre companies.

Alvin Sputnik is a heartfelt and imaginative one-man show that combines puppetry and animation to tell a hopeful story about love, loss and saving the planet.
